Download our free and anonymous exposure notification app to help save lives. It's safe, secure, and 100% private.
Available now for the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University as part of a phased rollout in partnership with ADHS.
You have the power to help slow the spread of COVID-19 with your smartphone. All you have to do is download and install Covid Watch, a free and anonymous exposure notification app.
Activate Bluetooth and select options for your local area.
The app will run in the background and you'll receive a notice if you've been exposed. That's it.

Without social distancing, wearing face masks, quarantine, or other measures, a virus like COVID-19 can spread rapidly through the population. This is how we got to millions of infections globally, so quickly.

The Covid Watch app allows people to receive completely private notifications on their phone whenever they may have been in close contact with a contagious person. With information from the app, people can start to take extra precautions and self-isolate even before their symptoms appear, preventing further spread of the virus.

As of September 2020, Covid Watch is available for the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University as part of a phased rollout in the state of Arizona in partnership with the Arizona Department of Health Services. Coming soon to additional regions and jurisdictions.
First, download Covid Watch from Google Play or the App Store. Then, open the app and select your region. A short explanation of the app will be presented to you. Once you review the introductory screens, Covid Watch will ask for permission to run in the background, just like other apps do on your phone now. Ensure that Bluetooth is activated, as the app requires it. Approve the app to run in the background, and you're all set up. There’s nothing else you need to do to make Covid Watch work on your phone.
Covid Watch works on newer smartphone devices. Compatible with iPhone, supported on iOS 13.5 & 13.6. Supported on Android Version 6 (API 23) or above.
Exposure notifications can help alert app users of potential exposure, even before they may experience symptoms, so that they can act quickly and take the appropriate next steps to protect others around them and help contain the spread of COVID-19. Notifications occur when your app anonymously downloads fresh data from the server, as opposed to the server pushing out information to you.
No personally identifiable information is ever tracked or stored in Covid Watch. In fact, Covid Watch uses technology that sets the standard for digital rights and privacy protection in COVID-19 exposure alert apps, which is now supported by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
We are working with public health authorities and higher education institutions to bring Covid Watch to additional states in the U.S. and to countries worldwide.
